Japanese Educational Research Association (JERA) publishes an English-language journal, Educational Studies in Japan: International Yearbook (ESJ) once a year since 2006, with the aim of disseminating Japanese educational studies abroad. ESJ is published in March and is also available online (J-Stage and Eric).
Each issue of ESJ contains not only general submission papers but also special issue planned and edited by the ESJ editorial committee. Special issue in No.20 is “Rethinking Shadow Education in the Context of Supplementary Education” .
JERA welcomes submissions from non-members. Both members and non-members can only submit papers through the online submission system since 2025. Please use ESJ submission templates and check the Manuscript Submission Guidelines and Paper Screening Guidelines carefully before submission. We look forward to receiving your submission.
