Japanese Educational Research Association (JERA) has published an English-language journal, Educational Studies in Japan: International Yearbook (ESJ) once a year since 2006, with the aim of disseminating Japanese educational studies abroad. ESJ is published in March and is also available online (J-Stage).
Each issue of ESJ contains not only general submissions but also special issue papers planned and edited by the ESJ editorial committee. Special issue in No.20 is “Rethinking Shadow Education in the Context of Supplementary Education” .
JERA welcomes submissions from non-members. Both members and non-members can only submit papers through the online submission system since 2025. Please use the ESJ submission template and read the Manuscript Submission Guidelines and Paper Screening Guidelines carefully before submission. We look forward to receiving your submission.
